Bio and Age – Who is Casey Neistat?
Casey Owen Neistat was born on March 25, 1981 in Gales Ferry, a village in Connecticut. He is one of four children of Jewish parents, Amy and Barry Neistat. Others are Van Neistat, Dean Neistat and Jordan Neistat. As a child, Casey Neistat had a distinct, artistic spirit that the four walls of a school could not contain. He dropped out of high school at age 17 and began creating his own lifestyle. Before moving to New York, he worked in Connecticut for three years. He continued his part-time jobs in New York and finally made his first film in 2001. The series (a collaborative project with brother Van) focused on the artwork of American contemporary artist Tom Sachs. Neistat rose to fame in a 2003 short film titlediPod’s dirty secret . The 3-minute film criticized Apple’s no-replacement iPod battery policy. The policy was strict and did not take into account the fact that the battery could die through no fault of the owner. The video caught public attention and the news was picked up by major networks including the BBC, CBS, Fox News, Rolling Stone and the Washington Post (which called the video wonderfully renegade). After the video was released, Apple announced a review of its battery policy, but insisted the heart change had nothing to do with Neistat’s video.
