It was on November 16, 1964 that the singer was born as Diana Jean Krall in Nanaimo, British Columbia, Canada. Diana grew up with her sister Michelle who formerly worked with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP). While her father, James “Jim” Krall was an accountant, her mother, Adella, was a teacher.
Diana Krall’s interest in music began when she was a little girl thanks to the influence of her parents, who were both music lovers. While her father played the piano at home, her mother was part of the community choir. By the age of 4, Krall had already started taking classical piano lessons, but she had been exposed to jazz thanks to her grandparents. A member of a student jazz band when she was in high school, Krall received a scholarship to Berklee College of Music in Boston.
