No one is mistakenly called Cheetah unless they’re lightning fast, as Tyreek Hill proved in his few years in the National Football League. The wide receiver, who can also serve as a return specialist, was drafted by the Kansa City Chiefs in 2016 amid criticism of a past domestic abuse incident. However, the player seemed to have it all behind him and was focused on his game to earn back Pro Bowl appearances as well as a spot on the Professional Football Writers Association All-Rookie Team.
Who is NFL’s Tyreek Hill? His early life and education
Tyreek Hill was born on March 1, 1994 in New York, Lauderhill, Florida, although he spent most of his education in Georgia, where he was raised by his single mother, Virginia Hill. From an early age, Hill proved to be very athletic and was considered the fastest runner of all his peers.
He attended Coffee High School in Douglas, Georgia, where he was a standout member of the school team, notably winning the 100-meter and 200-meter events at the 2012 Georgia 5A state competition USA Today All-American High School Athlete of the year.
After breaking up and setting a high school number track record, Tyreek Hill enrolled at Garden City Community College, where he both played soccer and track skated. His excellence in football caught the interest of larger colleges and Hill soon after he entered Oklahoma State University. Hill was an instant sensation for his new team, but after just a few months with the side, he was fired over a domestic violence incident.
Oklahoma’s Tyreek Hill’s talent and stats spoke for themselves, prompting the University of West Alabama to take a chance on him. Hill went about his business with his new team, and while he was able to regain form on the field, the off-field incident continued to haunt him after graduation. He was not invited to the NFL combine because of the past incident and was not scheduled to be drafted in the 2016 NFL draft. However, the Kansas City Chiefs selected him against heavy criticism with the 165th overall in the fifth round.
NFL Career Stats and Injuries
Tyreek Hill paid for the Chiefs’ belief in him by maintaining a combined stats of runs, receptions, kick returns and punt returns of 138 touches for 1, 836 yards and 12 touchdowns. He was subsequently named to the 2017 Pro Bowl and earned First-Team All-Pro honors as a punt returner.
For the 2017 season, he was voted his second straight Pro Bowl after recording a combined total of 117 touches for 1, 446 yards and 8 touchdowns. The 2018 season proved to be his worst yet as he suffered a couple of ankle and Achilles tendon injuries. He went on to manage combined all-purpose stats of 17 touches for 364 yards and 4 touchdowns.

It’s not clear if Tyreek Hill is dating anyone right now, however, it would be a long time before fans and audiences in general made his relationship with Crystal Espinal, his former girlfriend during his time in Oklahoma state, the headlines after physically dating her had abused, forgotten.
It was reported that Hill was physically assaulted when Espinal was 8 weeks pregnant when she confronted him at his home over allegations that he had hit other women. According to police reports, Hill pushed her out of his room and threw her cell phone and laptop into the hallway. Espinal returned to the room and was punched in the stomach. Hill is said to have further put her in a headlock as he also attempted to strangle her and deprive her of oxygen for a few seconds.
Crystal Espinal subsequently checked into a hospital and pressed charges against the soon-to-be father of her child. Tyreek Hill pleaded guilty to all charges that could have put him in prison for up to three years. However, the court responded leniently as he was a first-time offender, instead handing out a three-year suspended sentence, along with other requirements that include a domestic abuse assessment program and anger management classes.
