She is of Indian-American descent and was born to a Dutch mother and Bengali-Indian father. By August 2009, she launched another label, the Rachel’s Rachel Roy Collection, specializing in affordable sportswear, footwear and accessories. That same year, she announced that she would be collaborating with Estelle, a Grammy-winning pop singer, to launch a line of jewelry for the Spring 2010 Rachel Roy Collection.
