Samaja Perine was born on September 16, 1995 to Gloria Perine, area manager at Apple’s Austin office. Nothing is known about his father, but he always credits his stepfather, a software engineer, as one of his role models. This suggests that his mother was remarried and Samaje was on good terms with her new husband. He identifies as African American in relation to his origins.
His mother explained that she gave him the “Samaje” because the name “Sam” has been in her family tree for a long time. She revealed that her father and grandfather were both named Sam. Gloria felt comfortable continuing the Sam naming pattern with her own son.
Samaje, who is described as humble, taciturn and unassuming, started weightlifting when he was 12 and attended Hendrickson High School when his family moved to Pflugerville, Texas. Interestingly, for someone more interested in drums than games on TV, he became part of a college football team – the Hendrickson Hawks – as a three-starter. He also joined the college’s track and field team, where he did an excellent job.
Considering his height, Samaje Perine does possess the height of most average American football players. He stands at 5 feet 11 inches (1.80 m) and weighs 236 pounds (107 kg). Still, he has a great physical strength that most football players cannot match. He once lifted someone’s car to help fix a flat tire when he was at school.
In his junior year, Samaje’s fast running and outstanding physical strength soon caught the attention of the Washington Redskins and he was drafted in the 4th round of the 2017 NFL Draft. He signed a 4-year, $3 million contract with the Redskins and played his first game against the LA Rams in September 2017.
His frenzied runs and humble demeanor quickly made Samaje a huge fan favorite. He was named Rookie of the Season for his 603 rushing yards and 22 receptions for 182 yards and a touchdown. Samaje has ankle and knee injuries and is a force to be reckoned with in the NFL

Samaje Perine is the only known child from his mother and he has a special relationship with her and also describes her as his role model. There are rumors that Samaja might have a brother named Lamical Perine. That is not true. Lamical Perine, who is also a collegiate at Florida Gators, is actually a cousin of Samaje.
Who is Samaja Perine’s wife?
Samaje is married to his beautiful girlfriend of many years, Megan Haney Perine, whom he met in his sophomore year of high school. Megan Perine appears to be of white descent. In February 2017, Samaje proposed to his girlfriend in the most amazing way.
It happened at the training center for NFL recruits in Orange County, California. He arranges with this guy, Daniel Fernandez, who’s definitely some kind of magician. The magician does some tricks with some people watching along with Meg and Samaje. After that, he calls out the pair, does a few tricks. Samaje gets down on one knee with a ring and Meg says “Yes!” before he can ask the question. They were married in June 2017.
Megan Perine holds a degree in finance from the University of Oklahoma. Samaje recently announced on Twitter that they are expecting their first child.
