1. She was born to middle class parents

The charming actress was born on November 20, 1943, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in the United States. She was born to a carpenter and a housewife. She was raised in Philadelphia and holds US citizenship. From childhood, Hamel developed an interest in fashion design and her beauty also led her to choose a career in modeling. She attended and graduated from Temple University.

2. She worked as a secretary before her modeling and modeling career

After her university studies, Veronica Hamela worked as a secretary for an ironing board cover manufacturing company. She worked there for a while before quitting to launch her modeling career. Hamel modeled for the cigarette advertisement that aired in December 1970 on a show called The Tonight Show as well as print ads for Slims and Pall Mall Cigarettes. Eileen Ford later discovered her and featured her as a model in the 1971 film titled Klute

Thereafter, she acted in many films including Hill Street Blues where she played the role of a lead actress from 1981 to 1987. She also appeared in A New Life in 1988 and Minding Business in 1990. Veronica Hamel and Irving dated back in the 60s, and in 1971 the couple tied the knot. After their marriage, the power couple had been together for about ten years and in 1981 they separated. The reason for their divorce was not revealed to the media, but there was speculation about her busy career and Hamel has no children from the marriage. Since the divorce, the actress has had no known relationship to date. Apparently, Hamel doesn’t mention anything about her affairs or partners in the media and she likes to keep information regarding her personal life under wraps.

5. Hamel and her husband became owners of Marilyn Monroe’s Brentwood home

A year after her marriage to Michael Irving, the couple purchased the home of Hollywood legend Marilyn Monroe in 1972. Monroe was an iconic actress and singer active from the 1920s to the 1960s. News of her sudden disappearance surfaced in 1962 and unsolved mysteries surrounded his death. Later, it was alleged that she died of a Barbiturate overdose.

Hamel and Irving, while renovating the Brentwood mansion, discovered the house’s wiretapping as well as the telephone system. Later, the couple shelled out around $100,000 to get rid of the house’s anti-bug devices.
