Meredith Macrae was an American-born film and television star. An actress and television host, her career spanned around four decades beginning in 1953. Born to famous parents who were both actors, she started out in show business at an early age beginning her television debut at the age of eight years.

She then made a smooth transition from a child actress to a bona fide actress following her standout performance as Sally Morrison on the hit 1960s sitcom My Three Sons. She was also on the cast of another 1960s sitcom Junction Jupon. Much later in her career, Macrae was the host of the 1980s television show Morning Los Angeles

Who was Meredith Macrae?

This actress was born Meredith Lynn MacRae on May 30, 1944. She was born in Houston, Texas but grew up in Los Angeles, California. Information regarding her early years of education is not available, however, she is believed to have had her college education at the University of California, Los Angeles, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in English. Born into an acting family, she started acting at the age of eight, but her career never blossomed until her late teens.

Macrae had her starring role in the 1960s sitcom My Three Sons (1963-65) in which she portrayed the character Sally Anne Morrison Douglas. Although the show ran for 12 consecutive seasons, Macrae was part of its cast for only 2 seasons as she left the show to go and pursue other career opportunities. She then appeared as Billie Jo Bradley in another hit sitcom, Petticoat Junction (1966-1970), and she remained in the show’s cast until its final season.

His film credits include Bikini Beach (1964), Norwood (1970), My Friends Need Killing (1976), Grand Jury (1976), Sketch of a Strangler (1978), Earthbound (1981) and The Census Taker (1984). The talented actress has also had guest roles on several hit television series including The Dean Martin ShowThe FBIThe Mike Douglas ShowThe Rockford FilesFantasy IslandWebsterChipsLoving American Style,and Magnum, PI. She has also acted in many theatrical productions during her career.

Besides being an all-around actress, Meredith Macrae starred for 8 seasons as the host of the talk show Matin Los Angeles on KHJ-TV through which she gained a reputation for her great talent for interviews. She was also well known in the television genre, appearing in hit series like What’s My Line? I’ve Got A SecretTattletales$10,000 Pyramid , $25,000 Pyramid, Break The BankPhew Celebrity! beat time and many others.

Meredith Macrae was born to very talented andfamous parents who often played together. She had 3 siblings; two brothers William Gordon and Robert Bruce and a sister named Heather who eventually became an actress.

His mother, Sheila MacRae, was an actress, singer and dancer. She became very popular for her role as Alice on the hit series The Jackie Gleason Show (1966-70) and she later ran her own television show The Sheila MacRae Show

Gordon MacRae, Meredith’s father, was a film, television and theater actor and also a musician. He appeared in many musical films, including On Moonlight Bay (1951) and its sequel In the Light of the Silver Moon (1953).

Spouse and children

Meredith Macrae was married to Philip Mark Neal, a business executive who served as president and CEO of Avery Dennison Corporation. They tied the knot on February 4, 1995, and remained married until his death in 2000.

Prior to the aforementioned marital union, Meredith Macrae was married to actor Greg Mullavey from 1969 to 1987 and they had one child together, a daughter named Alison who was born in 1974. Her first marriage was to the film and television director television Richard Berger, former chairman of Walt Disney Pictures and MGM.

Is she dead?

Meredith Macrae has died aged 56 following a grueling battle with brain cancer. She presented to the hospital in early 1999 with symptoms initially thought to be due to perimenopause. She was later diagnosed with stage 4 brain cancer, after which she underwent a series of surgeries and received an experimental drug. Sadly, she passed away on July 14, 2000. Her remains were cremated and her ashes were scattered in the Pacific.
