Who was Thuy Trang? Biography, husband, family, death
Kids of the 90s will remember Thuy Trang, who was part of the original cast of the television series, Mighty Rangers Morphin, where she played the character of Trini Kwan, the Yellow Ranger. The Vietnamese-American actress, who had been a refugee before heading to the United States, then starred in The Raven: City of Angels (1996) before her life was cut short following a car accident. Who was Thuy Trang? – Biography
Thuy Trang was born in the city of Saigon, which is now known as Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam on December 14, 1973. His parents’ names are not known, but it is known that his father was a soldier. of the Army of South Vietnam.
In 1975, following the invasion and following the fall of Saigon during the Vietnam War, the Trang family moved to the United States and settled in Los Angeles, California. Their daughter was enrolled in Banning High School, after which she got a scholarship to study civil engineering at the University of California, Irvine. However, his plans to further his education and pursue a family career in engineering were scrapped after he had the chance to meet a Hollywood agent.
Thuy Trang then launched an acting career, first appearing in a commercial for the Church of Scientology before landing his first major role in the original cast including Amy Jo Johnson, Austin St. John, David Yost and Walter Emanuel Jones from the television series, Mighty Morphin Rangers (1993-1994). After 88 episodes of the superhero children’s television series, Trang left the show, along with several other cast members, over a pay dispute. Her next major role came in films; The Raven: City of Angles (1996) and Hard Spy (1996).

Thuy Trang died in a car accident on September 3, 2001, at the age of 27. The Power Rangers actress and her friend, actress and model Angela Rockwood, were passengers in a car traveling between San Francisco and Los Angeles on Interstate 5 late at night. The pair, along with another friend who was driving, were returning from a visit to the Rockwood friend who was to serve as bridesmaid at her upcoming wedding to actor and director, Dustin Nguyen. Trang and the driver of the car were to be bridesmaids at the wedding.
As the story goes, the driver of the vehicle lost control of it, which forced the car to veer violently down the road before hitting the rock wall at the side of the road and flipping over several times before hitting the safety rail crossing the bank. Rockwood, who was ejected from the vehicle through the window as it spun, and the driver of the car both survived the crash while Trang died on her way to hospital. It is not known if any of the passengers were wearing a seat belt. However, Rockwood, whose injuries left her quadriplegic, has at various times claimed that she was not wearing a seatbelt.
Trang, who is said to have been a Buddhist, had his body cremated a week after the accident. On September 10, 2001, his ashes were interred at Rose Hills Memorial Park in Whittier, California.
Family – husband
Thuy Trang has never been married. Also, no reports have closely linked her to a man.
As mentioned above, Thuy Trang’s father was a South Vietnamese Army soldier. He was the first member of his family to be granted political asylum in the United States. In the years to come, he worked with the US government to bring the rest of his family to America as a unified Vietnam under communist rule. In 1979, the remaining members of the Trang family traveled to Hong Kong after secretly boarding a freighter. They spent a few months in a detention camp in Hong Kong before the United States granted them asylum and found the father.
Thuy Trang and his father are said to have had a special bond. The two remained very close until her father died in 1992 after a battle with cancer.
