BIOGRAPHY
William Sadler has been dragging his gruff physique into film and television since the late 1970s. After studying at the State University of New York at Geneseo (SUNY Geneseo) and Cornell University, the actor began by scouring castings and auditions. William got his start in the theater and appeared in more than 75 productions in 12 years. This experience led him to make a name for himself and opened the doors to television where he made a series of TV films and TV series in the 70s and 80s. It was

in 1990 that the actor gained fame by playing the great villain of 58 Minutes to Live , Colonel Stuart, and gives Bruce Willis a hard time . His angular, marked features and his chilling performance make him a memorable villain. The following year, the actor took on the features of The Grim Reaper for Peter Hewitt in The Adventures of Bill & Ted alongside Keanu Reeves . William will take over the Scythe for the same role in an episode of Tales from the Crypt in 1994.

The same year, the one nicknamed “Bill” is incarcerated at Shawshank prison for The Escapees by Frank Darabont and plays the role of Morgan Freeman and Tim Robbins . The actor plays Heywood, one of the prison’s long-term inmates. The feature film was acclaimed and is still considered one of the greatest films in the history of cinema. Sadler then returned to the small window by appearing in the TV series Poltergeist: Raiders of the Supernatural , Star Trek, Deep Space Nine and Roswell . In the latter, he played Sheriff Valenti during the 3 seasons that the series lasted.

In 1999, the actor was hired again by Frank Darabont to play in The Green Line , a new adaptation of a Stephen King novel after “The Escapees”. William plays Klaus Detterick, the father of the girls murdered by William Wharton ( Sam Rockwell ). The film is once again a huge success. “Bill” then starred in a large number of TV series such as Tru Calling , New York 911 , Les Experts or Médium . The year 2007 marks a new collaboration between the actor, Frank Darabont and Stephen King. In fact, the director is once again adapting a book by the famous writer, The Mist . Sadler plays Jim Grondin, one of the survivors of the strange fog that falls on a small town in Maine.

The following year, the actor played Shia LaBeouf ‘s father in DJ Caruso ‘s The Eye of Evil , a big-budget thriller ($80 million). The actor brilliantly leads a career between television and cinema. His face, now extremely well known, can be seen in the series Fringe , Hawaii 5-0 , Band of Brothers: Pacific Hell or Person of Interest . In 2013, Shane Black called on “Bill” to play Sal Kennedy, Tony Stark’s friend and mentor in Iron Man 3 , a continuation of the adventures of the armored superhero.
