The award-winning maestro was born Allan StewartKonigsberg on December 1, 1935, in Brooklyn Borough, New York, to first-generation Russian immigrants Nettie Cherry and Martin Konigsburg. He was the eldest of his parents’ two children. Her mother was an accountant and her father worked as a waiter and jewelry engraver. Allen is currently 83 years old.
