Zoë Buckman was born in Hackney, East London, United Kingdom, on September 13, 1985, to what some would rightly describe as a prominent British family. Her father, Jennie Buckman, is a famous television writer and playwright and was Director of the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts from 1986 to 2007. Her Jewish mother, Nick Blatchley, works as a government health officer. She is a niece of Peter Buckman, an English writer and literary agent, while her paternal grandmother was the sister of Sir Alec Guinness’s wife.
Concerning his ancestry, Buckman has a mixed racial identity of English and Jewish. Not much is known about her childhood, early education, siblings or her college degree. However, it’s safe to assume that she earned a degree in creative arts, since that’s her major area of expertise.

So far, Zoe Buckman’s career has seen her collaborate with other notable artists and get involved in various associations as a member or leader. She is a member of For Freedoms. The first artist-led Super Political Action Committee created by artists Eric Gottesman and Hank Willis Thomas. Buckman has worked on several projects with For Freedoms, including an exhibit in Harrisburg, PA; a billboard – “Grab Em By the Ballots” and another in Chicago, Illinois; a bus bench with Monique Meloche Gallery.
In the spring of 2017, Buckman and Natalie Frankwe collaborated on Buckman’s first public project, We Hold These Truths To Be Self-Evident, which was a New York Live Arts mural that year. It was a response to Donald Trump’s election and uses misogynist lyrics drawn from statements by former and current male politicians about women and their bodies. In 2015, Buckman was Artist in Residence at Mana Contemporary.
