Russia Accuses Kiev of Deliberate Attack in Il-76 Plane Crash, Killing 65 Ukrainian POWs

Russian Defense Ministry reported the crash of a Russian Il-76 military cargo plane near the Ukrainian border. The plane, carrying 65 Ukrainian prisoners of war for a scheduled exchange, resulted in the deaths of all onboard.

The Russian Foreign Ministry has condemned this incident as a deliberate and conscious act of aggression by Ukrainian forces, terming it an “act of terrorism.” The ministry’s statement emphasized that Kiev was fully aware of the planned prisoner exchange and the route of the transfer. This attack, according to the ministry, is indicative of the Kiev regime’s inability to negotiate and a blatant disregard for international law.

This accusation comes amidst heightened tensions between Russia and Ukraine. The Belgorod region, where the plane crashed, has been a frequent target of attacks since the inception of Russia’s military operations in Ukraine.
