In a devastating incident at Ocala’s Paddock Mall, Florida, two days before Christmas, a targeted shooting claimed the life of 40-year-old David Nathaniel Barron and left a woman wounded. The Ocala Police Department reported that Barron was found dead in the mall’s common area, while the female victim was hospitalized with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. The incident, occurring in a bustling shopping center, also led to indirect injuries, including chest pains and a broken arm.
Police Chief Mike Balken expressed the community’s grief, noting the particularly tragic timing of the incident during the holiday season. The suspect, believed to have fled undetected, remains at large. Authorities have released an image of a person of interest, appealing to the public for assistance.
