  • Lateef Jakande (1979–1983): The first Civilian Governor, known for his “Baba Kekere” educational and housing reforms.
  • Bola Ahmed Tinubu (1999–2007): Credited with modernizing the state’s internal revenue model.
  • Babatunde Fashola (2007–2015): Focused on massive infrastructure and environmental face-lifts.
  • Akinwunmi Ambode (2015–2019): Advanced urban renewal and transport hubs.
  • Babajide Sanwo-Olu (2019–Present): Currently leading the “THEMES” agenda for a Greater Lagos.

Education and Landmarks

Lagos is home to some of Nigeria’s most prestigious institutions, including the University of Lagos (UNILAG), founded in 1962, and the Lagos State University (LASU). Beyond education, it hosts the busiest sea ports and airports in the country, making it the gateway to the Nigerian economy.
