Tia’s Early Life, Parents

Tia Dashon Mowry was born on July 6, 1978 in Gelnhausen, Hesse, West Germany. Her father, who was in the military, was based in Germany when Tia and her twin were born. The family eventually returned to the United States and resided in Fort Hood, Texas.

Tia Mowry’s parents are Darlene Renée Mowry (née Flowers) and Timothy John Mowry. Her father is Caucasian of Irish descent. Her mother is African American, originally from the Bahamas. Both parents joined the US Army and rose to the rank of Sergeant.

The family moved to California after Tia’s father left the military. There, he took a job as a police officer with the Glendale City Police Department. Tia’s mother later worked as a security guard and much later as a manager for Tia and her sister during their brief music career.

Tia Mowry had attended high school at Birmingham High School in Van Nuys, California. After graduating, she studied psychology at Seavers College at Pepperdine University in Malibu, California.
